Integrating Wellness into the Heart of Real Estate

My journey into integrating wellness into our luxury real estate portfolio is a personal and strategic endeavor. Over the years, I’ve realized the profound importance of wellness, not just as a concept but as a lived experience, particularly as I crossed the age of 50. It became evident to me that the temporal bounds of our existence do not measure the true wealth in life, but by the health span, we enjoy within those years. This realization reshaped my approach towards luxury real estate, steering our strategy towards wellness, which is not an add-on but the backbone of our business model.

Including wellness facilities in real estate development transcends luxury; it represents a critical evolution in how we envision living spaces. As society grows increasingly aware of the importance of health and well-being, the demand for environments that nurture these aspects becomes paramount. Incorporating wellness facilities such as fitness centers, yoga studios, and meditation spaces into real estate developments is not just an amenity—it’s necessary to foster communities where physical and mental health are prioritized. These facilities offer residents convenient access to activities that promote their health and well-being, effectively supporting a holistic approach to living.

Moreover, integrating such wellness-centric amenities encourages a communal spirit, creating spaces where residents can engage in healthy activities together. This enhances the attractiveness of real estate offerings and aligns with a growing societal shift towards health consciousness, making developments more appealing to a broader demographic.

At Sankari Properties, we’re not just building homes but crafting ecosystems that foster a healthier, more sustainable way of living. Our strategy is to blend wellness-focused architectural design with sustainable materials, creating spaces that cater to the physical well-being of our residents. This approach is particularly poignant in the ultra-luxury space where our clients, despite having access to almost every conceivable luxury, seek something money can’t buy: more time to live well.

Our properties are designed with an acute awareness of this desire. We incorporate state-of-the-art wellness facilities, including swimming pools, saunas, cold plunges, spas, and treatment rooms. We go a step further by integrating nutritionists and personal trainers into our service offerings, ensuring that residents have everything they need to lead a healthier lifestyle if they choose to. This isn’t just about providing luxury amenities but actively encouraging and supporting our residents in their wellness journeys.

From an architectural standpoint, our collaboration with leading architects and designers, like Foster’s and Partners, ensures that our buildings are not just visually stunning but are also bastions of sustainability. In Dubai, where the climate presents unique challenges, we’ve implemented designs that reduce air conditioning loads through large shaded areas and recirculate air systems. We prioritize using water filters and other sustainable technologies that make our buildings more efficient and less impactful on the environment.

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for us; it’s a commitment. That’s why we are working towards the WELL certified accreditation for our main building, which focuses on the health and wellbeing of people in buildings. In addition, we are working towards the LEED Gold certification to ensure our projects meet the highest sustainable design standards along with well-being focused design standards. This commitment extends beyond the walls of our properties to the infrastructure of Dubai itself, aligning with the city’s vision for sustainable development.

My perspective on wellness in luxury real estate is deeply personal yet broadly strategic. It’s about recognizing the invaluable link between our living spaces and our health span.
